Why would anyone in there right mind want to have their children play there known the history of these sites. These sites are not being cleanedup they are being coveredup which will bring many problems for other generations down the road. Any site that has to be maintained for 25 years in not a cleanup. There are Toxic sites being cleanup Im sure in other cities, but the difference here is. There are three toxic sites in the middle of our community with residents living in and around these sites. The Cancer rate is high here. Cancer or heart is the cause of death. (Young people) Also what upsets me is how many of our dear little animals died with cancer. They dont drink, smoke or do drugs. We do have alot of smart people in Sydney. We are not all bingo players or do drugs or on welfare. All towns and cities deal with many of the same problems. There are other huge areas of land that could be made into a ballfield or tennis court or walking trails. Play safe and side on the side of caution when choosing a safe place to live. Nothing such be placed on top of the Tarponds Cooling Pond or Coke Ovens Site. Fences and a green space. The history of these sites should be posted on bill boards in big black and red letters. Danger keep out. Keep watching and learn how these sites are being covered over. Some problems already with areas of the Cooling pond sinking. They say that it has affected the peoples ability to make proper decissions and therefore most if not all people within a 75 mile radius have lower than average IQs and 32% are somewhat equale to studing people that had been lobotimized. Maybe it's time for the federal government to step in and manage the affairs of Sydney and area. Wouldn't it make good policy to hire daycare workers for these people rather than see them frustrated looking for drugs, booze. A few more bingo halls opened whould give the people something productive to do and if we were to computer chip the population of Cape Breton this would make it easer to study Cape Bretoners and would be a more humane way of treating the casulaties of the tar ponds.It's important for us mainlanders to drop in and read about the experiment we call Cape Breton.
